  • Example 2: Commercial Lease Agreement

    A small business owner signs a lease agreement for a new office space on April 20th. The agreement specifies that the lease term, including rent payments and access to the premises, will commence on May 1st.

    Here, the lease contract was signed on April 20th, but its effective date is May 1st. This means the tenant's obligations, such as paying rent, and their rights, like occupying the space, officially begin on May 1st, not when the document was signed.
