Simple English definitions for legal terms

permissive

Read a random definition: adjutant general

A quick definition of permissive:

Permissive: When something is permissive, it means that it is allowed by a court, the law, or an agreement. It can also mean that someone is very tolerant and allows others to behave in ways that might not be considered normal or acceptable by others.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Permissive refers to any act that is allowed by court order, legal procedure, or agreement. It can also refer to being tolerant or allowing of others' behavior, even if it goes against what others consider to be acceptable.

1. A permissive court order allowed the defendant to leave the state for a family emergency.

2. Some parents have a permissive attitude towards their children's behavior, allowing them to stay up late and eat junk food.

These examples illustrate the two different meanings of permissive. In the first example, permissive refers to a court order that allows something that might not normally be allowed. In the second example, permissive refers to a parenting style that is more relaxed and allows children to do things that might not be considered acceptable by others.

I mean, idk how it's possible to end birth right citizenship without amending the constitution because to me the 14th amendment is pretty clear about it.
ross ulbricht tried to hire a hitman to kill 5 people
i am not that sympathetic to him

@KnowledgeableRitzyWasp: That might have been an FBI agent. It was most likely him and he was most likely doing it to retrieve stolen funds that corrupt FBI agents stole, but yeah moral gray area but me personally, cool with hitmen. It's not like it is uncommon to hire hitmen. I don't think the action itself is necessarily wrong but the intent behind it can be.

Like, Boeing whistblowers being killed by hitmen = wrong but a guy hiring hitmen to retrieve stolen funds = good to me.

@Dkk: Yeah, for sure. My guess is it'll go to SCOTUS and it'll be 8-1 or 7-2, saying that EO was unconstitutional.

Indeed. I need a count for how many exectuive orders he has signed and how many already have pending lawsuits.
