A quick definition of publication:

A publication is when something is made known to the public. This can be done to share knowledge or give notice. In copyright law, publication means distributing copies of a work to the public by selling or transferring ownership. It can also include offering copies to a group of people for further distribution or display. Publicly performing or displaying a work does not count as publication. Publication usually happens when copies of the work are first made available to the public.

A more thorough explanation:

A publication is the act of making something known to the public. This can be done to share knowledge or give notice. In copyright law, publication has a specific meaning. According to 17 U.S.C. §101, publication is the distribution of copies or phonorecords of a work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership. This means that when a work is made available to the public, it is considered published.

  • A newspaper article is a publication because it is made available to the public to read.
  • A book is published when copies are made available for sale in bookstores or online.
  • A scientific study is published when it is printed in a journal and made available to other researchers to read and cite.

These examples illustrate how publication involves making something available to the public. When a newspaper article is published, it is printed and distributed to readers. When a book is published, it is printed and made available for purchase. When a scientific study is published, it is printed in a journal and made available to other researchers to read and cite.

I mean, idk how it's possible to end birth right citizenship without amending the constitution because to me the 14th amendment is pretty clear about it.
ross ulbricht tried to hire a hitman to kill 5 people
i am not that sympathetic to him

@KnowledgeableRitzyWasp: That might have been an FBI agent. It was most likely him and he was most likely doing it to retrieve stolen funds that corrupt FBI agents stole, but yeah moral gray area but me personally, cool with hitmen. It's not like it is uncommon to hire hitmen. I don't think the action itself is necessarily wrong but the intent behind it can be.

Like, Boeing whistblowers being killed by hitmen = wrong but a guy hiring hitmen to retrieve stolen funds = good to me.

@Dkk: Yeah, for sure. My guess is it'll go to SCOTUS and it'll be 8-1 or 7-2, saying that EO was unconstitutional.
