rightful

Read a random definition: long-term security

A quick definition of rightful:

Term: RIGHTFUL

Definition: Rightful means fair and just. It can describe an action that is done fairly, or a person who has a legitimate claim to something, like a position or property. For example, if someone inherits something from their family, it is their rightful inheritance because they are entitled to it.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Rightful is an adjective that describes something that is fair, just, and legitimate.

Examples:

  • A rightful dispossession: This means that someone was fairly and justly removed from their property or land, perhaps because they were not paying rent or were violating the terms of their lease.
  • A rightful heir: This refers to someone who is legally entitled to inherit property or a title from a family member who has passed away.
  • Her rightful inheritance: This means that someone is entitled to receive property or money that rightfully belongs to them, perhaps because it was left to them in a will or trust.

These examples illustrate the different ways in which something can be considered rightful. In each case, there is a sense of fairness and legitimacy that is associated with the action or position in question. Whether it is a dispossession, an inheritance, or a claim to a title, the idea of being rightful implies that the person or thing in question has a legitimate claim to what they are seeking.
