i care a little bit
That's crazy, I don't have to care about things in order to form opinions on them. Guess I'm just built different

@seventensplit: It is a boost but you get declining returns. Like I said at the third quartile, a 160 LSAT it goes down to a +2.5 boost. So you go from a 160-163. Theirs just a point where you gotta know the test
14:02
I kinda figured you have to care about things to discuss them for hours but maybe not
GnomeoAndJuliet36
14:03
should prob just focus on what u can control since lsac doesnt give one shit or fuck how u feel
J-Reuben-Clark-Law
14:03
Their are questions on the test where if you just don't know how they work no amount of time is going to help. The test is stupid though.
J-Reuben-Clark-Law
14:05
Theoretically someone past like 165 who really does understand the type of questions could go up to like a 178 or something crazy but the type of people getting accomodations either have a disability or are too lazy to do something like that which is why they cheated and got accomodations in the first place. The mentality of someone with accomodations just doesnt equal someone who is going to succeed cheating or not cheating unless it's some weird situation like IrishDinosaur has.
J-Reuben-Clark-Law
14:07
And when I say cheated I mean the people that faked a disability.

i have accommodations but actually they did not help me. i didnt get accommodations on SAT/ACT bc i didnt have an IEP in high school and i scored 97th percentile SAT and 96th percentile ACT. yet i scored a 94th percentile LSAT with accommodations. clearly it's the quality of the studying, not the ability to finish the test, that matters. btw i didnt finish sections on the SAT and ACT so i would have actually gotten an even higher score if i did have accommodations. soooo yeah. my accommodations helped me on LSAT to actually finish the test since my ADHD prevented me from doing that on SAT/ACT and i didnt do particularly better percentile wise even so

14:09
lol wut
islandplum
14:09
nonsensical
J-Reuben-Clark-Law
14:11
Everyone should know the test is stupid though given the amount of complaints attorneys have about T14 KJD's that have never worked before and how black people can succeed at T14's besides being 5 points lower than everyone else. The test is just a shit test to filter out people using arbitrary numbers. Literally as I have said in the past, if you can get above the median 154 or whatever you can probably succeed in law if you really like this stuff.
J-Reuben-Clark-Law
14:11
Accomodations aint the problem, it's that the test is pointless itself.
islandplum
14:16
arbitrary numbers, a filter, yeah thats a test. I support keeping them in place now. They are obviously sorely needed and when the safety net is cut away it will be both a rude awakening for the beneficiaries and result in a significant competitive advantage for everyone else.
islandplum
14:17
"the extra time didnt help me, it only allowed me to finish the test." seriously ...
Isn't the origins of the LSAT to do away with non-meritocratic ways of selecting law school students? Like before standardized testing, there was a lot more room for bias and prejudice
14:31
I know he had u screaming
U-Hawaii-Jason-Momoa-Law
14:33
@seventensplit: Indeed and we should have those non-meritocratic standards.
U-Hawaii-Jason-Momoa-Law
14:33
We need more Jason Mamoa's in law school. UHawaii #1 school.
U-Hawaii-Jason-Momoa-Law
14:34
Fuck Momoa's* lol
U-Hawaii-Jason-Momoa-Law
14:35
I think it's funny cus people say those other factors are not meritocratic but they totally could be. It's just up to one's definition of meritocratic.
IrishDinosaur
14:46
anyways
