Believe in yourself and just go ahead and apply to whatever your dream school is. I was worried I wouldn’t get accepted because of my LSAT, but I applied E.D. to NU Law anyways and got in. Please just apply to whatever school you’re dreaming about and don’t listen to naysayers on here or LSA reddit. Good Luck!!

Admitted to Northwestern UniversityIf you are just thinking about law school, but don’t know which field you want to specialize in, or don’t know what to do about the future in general -> a CS degree is never the wrong choice (unless it kills your GPA). I took LSAT 4 times, which was a horrible decision. DO NOT take it until you are ready.
LSAT 172 GPA 3.85 2020–21 cycle
Attending University of California—Los Angeles
Wrote Why X for Penn, UVA, Berkeley, Northwestern, Duke, Georgetown, and UCLA. Wrote two optional Michigan essays, one of which answered the question Why X. Sent LOCI to UChicago, GULC, NYU, and Columbia. Sent LOCI/Why X hybrid to NYU after receiving HTE in January. Was deferred ED to RD at Columbia.
I am still confused as to why some schools were not interested in me and others liked me a lot. I think I wrote a very individualized and unique application which probably cut both ways. So, I have no advice or profound wisdom beyond: believe in yourself and Godspeed with this fucked system.
Wrote all optional essays and had fun with the prompts. I’m guessing that humor–especially the self-deprecating kind–was seen as a positive Despite the username, I think having clear reasons for Why Law and (as a KJD in particular) Why Now was real important. Good luck with ur cycles!
Worked hard in personal statement + supplements to create a strong why law/why now narrative. Wrote Why X’s (or each school’s equivalent) for every school outside the T6, plus optional essays for any schools that had prompts. Otherwise, very boring KJD who’s had a lot of luck this cycle :)
Wrote “Why X” essays for Columbia, Duke, NYU, Northwestern, Chicago, and Michigan; wrote GULC 250 optional essay on “Top 10 List;” wrote Core Values essay for Penn; wrote about thesis topic for Yale 250. Kira interview for Northwestern; group interview for GULC. Chicago UR3 on 2/15.
A cohesive narrative and clear idea of what you want to do as a lawyer goes a long way! Also apply as early as possible so you have max time for scholarship negotiations (and peace of mind).
Study for the LSAT, it’s worth it Tell a cohesive story in your essays
Wrote Penn Core Values and Why X School essays for Berkeley, Michigan, UCLA, USC, Cornell. Added a sentence in PS for Columbia. Sent Why NYU after NYU hold. LSAC GPA was slightly lower than uGPA. Retake the LSAT if you need to, apply early if you can. Good luck! You’ll do great!
NU was my top choice so I’m elated!!! I wish I didn’t bother sending out other apps (UVA and NYU), but the suspense of waiting was killing me so I wanted distractions. Applying to HLS in December made ZERO sense and was money down the drain…but oh well I’M HAPPY NONETHELESS
Hey creeper. Welcome. Here is my self worth in a page. Some notes for you: 3 years WE (relatively impressive, not unicorn though) 4 time LSAT taker (about 10 point increase from 3rd take to 4th take, so don’t give up) Wrote whys for all schools other than the T6
Wishing fellow super-splitters at least one dream school acceptance!
I got my first acceptance in 3 days and my last in 183 days. In the 180 days in between I tried (and failed) to anticipate each and every decision and it compromised my mental health. My advice? Block this site and wait patiently for the emails like you’re supposed to.
QWOC, cultural property/art law focus, pigeon Wrote why x for Mich, Berk, UVA, Duke, ASU; top 10 for GULC; core values for Penn; music essay for Stanny; Y250 about thesis; programmatic contribution and Graton essay for UCLA Two LSATs on record, 168 (cold) -> 179
Applied to every school under the sun because I was hunting that sweet $$$$. Take advantage of fee waivers. No special softs, but strong public service resume, solid recommendations, and creative essay topic. Proud to have two T14 A’s in the cycle from hell.
The best decision I made was choosing to work for a few years between undergrad and applying for law school. My softs, my writing skills, my interview skills, and my perspective all changed for the better because I had gained real world, professional experience.
Renegotiated with Texas Law using all of my other scholarship offers, except NYU (hadn’t received my scholly info yet) – offer went from 54k total to 60k total (off of in-state tuition). Headed to Texas Law to stay close to my fam and significant other! :)
