You are likely to get surprising results (both good and bad) from schools that you are applying to. This is why it is important to apply broadly as well as early in the cycle. Applying in September is preferable. If you are going to apply in January or later, just wait for the next cycle.

Be kind to yourself, and be sure to give yourself the proper space to grow.
Grind the LSAT practice tests over anything else and ignore what everyone says about “softs” - GPA and LSAT score are basically all that matter for near t60-t25. Aim for the best school you can. Finished 1L semester in top 15% of class, despite having some of the worst scores wrt admission. Grind the finals.
¶Don’t underestimate how long it will take to finish applying, especially if you are tailoring each application to the school. ¶Take a step back sometimes and remind yourself why you are working toward going to law school, in the thick of studying and applying it will be easy to forget.
If I can do it so can you!!! Don’t let anyone rain on your parade!!! 🌟
Wrote Why X and Leadership Essays for everywhere I could! Relevant government and university work experience throughout undergrad Big 10 Undergrad I had COVID and my dad was in the hospital w it when I took LSAT, probably should’ve written an addendum
Apply to any and every school you have an interest in (ask for fee waivers), see which schools accept you, weigh the scholarships with the prestige that each school carries, and then make the best decision for your future.
The best experience, job, or extracurricular is one that involves helping others. The common mantra is “Don’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm,” but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t carry an extra blanket to offer.
Do not let /LSAT get you down, stay away from reddit and other places. My GPA sucks and my LSAT isn’t good. Use the other factors in your application to help you out. Do not hesitate to ask for help.
Listen to The Sisters of Mercy, Autopsy, New Order, Morbid Angel, Immolation, Type O Negative, Bauhaus, Virgin Prunes, Mercyful Fate, Razor, Dua Lipa, Alien Sex Fiend, Hikaru Utada, and Pestilence
A low LSAT score is not necessarily a huge detriment to being admitted into law school. Your GPA and soft factors can go a long way, especially with a good personal statement!
Find a balance between employment outcomes and debt. A school outside of the top 14-20 is probably not worth 150k+ in debt, no matter how much you want to go there.
Painful to underperform but makes sense as a KJD without a strong narrative beyond finance undergrad -> biglaw M&A. Looking forward to Cornell and riding out WLs.
Applicant in my 30s. Work experience is mainly work as a paralegal. Volunteer work is leadership rolls within animal orgs. 5ish years for both things. Immigrant.
WF has a “non-binding” early decision program, and that’s what I was accepted to with a 45k scholarship. deferred myself to regular decision and was waitlisted
Always write the optional essays and ensure you have multiple reviewers for your statements before submitting them. Good luck! What? Like it’s hard?
Making decisions is the hardest part Money off the waitlist is possible Apply to as broad a range of schools as you can afford/expend effort for
I tailored the last paragraph of my personal statement to each school, and I believe that contributed (in part) to the scholarships I received.
