Admitted to University of Chicago…stats and didn’t do a good job demonstrating interest) T4 softs, did some research at my well-regarded undergraduate institution and had some limited freelance work experience, but nothing super impressive – I would say my admission was mainly a factor of stats, solid recommendation laters, and also having clear…
Wrote why X paragraphs in my personal statement. Dual enrollment lowered my LSAC GPA by 0.26. Softs are 1) extremely competitive extracurricular team, 2) very low-income upbringing affected by things relate to a very clear rationale for why law, and 3) prestigious undergrad fellowship. White and Hispanic, so kinda…
Wrote Why X for all schools I was admitted to. Heavily lent on my soft factors (URM, legal experience, great LORs from folks who knew me well). Tried to limit how much I check r/lawschooladmissions.
…first and second take, and I think that actually helped. Softs: T3-ish? My PS was about LGBTQ+ identity and (nURM) ethnic identity (no DS). Wrote a senior thesis at Ivy League undergrad that got a departmental award. 1-2 years work experience as a paralegal at a nonprofit organization that does high-profile impact…
I put myself as T4 softs because I’m KJD and most of my resume items are typical undergraduate activities: legal internship, lab research, TA position, and club leadership. However, I am a first-generation college student with 2 majors (STEM + business-related), which maybe helped me standout a little bit, but…

Harvard Interview (S.P.) : way too nervous, didn’t feel like it went well // UChicago Interview (A.W.): very conversational, felt like it went well! Supplemental Essays (if you don’t see it here, I didn’t write it): Michigan:…
…your passion! Your story will write itself with time. Softs really can move the needle. On that note, my interviews were far from ideal and I did notice typos on my apps afterwards, but it worked out. It’s really important to come off authentic and personable to admissions
…my LSAT being lower than their medians. No crazy special softs, just had solid work experience, decent leadership opportunities and niche interests. A cohesive narrative definitely goes a long way. This process can be tough and disheartening. All we can do is try our best n shoot that shot. Good luck🫡
…Chemical Engineering with a minor in Business. University Softs (orientation leader, executive leader of a first-year mentorship program, resident advisor, member of a social fraternity) PS focused on family/economic background leading me to pursue engineering, before realizing that climate change policy/law was my…
The best decision I made was choosing to work for a few years between undergrad and applying for law school. My softs, my writing skills, my interview skills, and my perspective all changed for the better because I had gained real world, professional experience.
Unless you have superior softs, a 174+ with a 4.0, it’s going to be a hard run. Start very very early. If you’re in the midst of studying like crazy and the LSAT you get will not get you into the tier you want or believe you can achieve then discard the score. I increased my LSAT from 158 to 166 to 171. I chose to…
