I’m not entirely sure what to put here because it seems 90% of what I’ve been told does not apply to the 2020-2021 cycle. LGBTQ+, Americorps, lots of volunteering, 8+ years out of undergrad, first generation, nd

Admitted to George Washington UniversityESSAYS MATTER. If you have one stat near a median, and another far below, you can still do it! Express yourself and sell your story. Write a Why X Law school essay or take advantage of all optional essays available.
If you talk about mental health in your application, make sure you articulate why it will not be a liability to your legal education. This is my third cycle, and I could not be happier with my decision. Go Gophers!
Apply early in the cycle if you can. Do the optional essays (nothing is really ‘optional’) Study for the LSAT for at least 3 months (take breaks, don’t burn out) PROOF READ Everything happens for a reason :)

It’s good to be little, it’s good to be small. STEM major who has always had a passion for law and policy and performed better in those classes. Why: Umich, Duke, UVA, NW, GTown (optional essay + ED), NDLS, Vandy
everybody said i couldn’t do it with a 162!!! believe in yourself and that you are more than ur numbers. go wildcats :p
Keep taking the LSAT. And take it in-person. I went 162 -> 168 -> 167 -> 168 -> 175. The last one was the only one I didn’t take at home or in a stupid hotel. Remote test-taking sucks. Go to the testing place.
the law school application process is incredibly stressful but it will be okay!! try not to obsess over decisions and fill your time doing things you enjoy instead. AND STUDY HARD FOR THE LSAT!! you got this!
Do every optional zoom, every optional essay, every optional interview. go to every admitted student’s day you can. i had no clue each school would actually differ in terms of culture, academic rigor, etc.
Apply before Thanksgiving or you will underperform.
However tempting it seems, DO NOT ED. It isn’t worth it. If you can get into a school by ED you can probably get into a slightly lower ranked school (without a huge change in outcomes) with some money.

I was in the Peace Corps and was therefore given fee waivers for every school but Cornell and Columbia. Cornell said they granted waivers for Returned Peace Corps volunteers but they never got back to me.
Softs: D3 Athlete, Relevant internships, Leadership, Bilingual Be genuine in your essays. Demonstrate perspective, humility, and maturity. And relax a little bit (please guys you are stressing me out)
Sent a Why X to Penn, UVA, Duke, Georgetown, Michigan Legal internship experience (w/ District Attorney) Massive upwards trend in GPA (started college pre-med, wrote addendum for all schools)
Don’t overthink. Trust the process and do your best. Refuse massive debt! I recommend getting a tutor for the LSAT. I used Powerscore and it helped me go from 162 –> 170 after months of hitting a wall
HYSP Undergrad in STEM Wrote a GPA addendum explaining rocky freshman year but upward trajectory; other extra essays - Why Berkeley, Why Michigan, advice to younger self for GULC HTE from NYU on 1/28
