Write the optional essays for every school you’re serious about, that is non-negotiable if you want the best odds. Also try and apply september/october, I still feel like that does make a difference at most schools. Did not think t6 was a possibility when the cycle first began due to my LSAT being lower than their…

Admitted to Washington University in St. LouisI took my time on my essays and iterated a ton. I believe my work experience in M&A played a huge role in my A’s as well! Don’t psych yourself out of applying - shoot your shot!
Make sure you have specific* *- and meaningful reasons for wanting to go to law school and that your materials support this Apply before mid-Nov if possible; I think I got lucky but please don’t do what I did (esp for Duke) Hedge your expectations as an international student (esp for UChi, UVA, and Mich) Sending…
I think for reverse splitters it’s all about selling yourself through WE and essays. I meticulously planned how my WE would feed into my ‘Why Law,’ and I think that ended up setting me apart from other applicants. Secondly, if you’re any kind of splitter, you need to apply early. If you’re past the Thanksgiving…
Take sooooo many deep breaths. Everything happens for a reason. You are going to do great and end up right where you need to be!!!
For transparency, I’m attending Vanderbilt based on very personal reasons that also make the cost of living zero. If you’re looking at my profile and are weighing similar options, I would have gone to either UT or Northwestern if it weren’t for these circumstances. Go Commodores!
The KJD tax is real, but you can get great offers if you have strong essays! Also, don’t be afraid to apply for schools you didn’t necessarily think you wanted. For some reason, UT Austin wasn’t really on my radar until I talked to an admissions rep at an event. Through the cycle, I fell in love with the school and…
Take undergrad seriously! Ask for letters of rec three months before you plan to send in apps. Take frequent breaks to avoid burnout when studying for the LSAT. Get involved in extracurricular activities that aren’t academic! Write LOCIs when waitlisted if you are serious about attending a school. Wishing you the…
I told them Harvey Specter sent me

Reapplicant. Last year is https://www.lsd.law/users/creep/MindlessUsefulFox. Focusing on my essays and not applying as a KJD helped a lot the second time around.
You are so much smarter, more qualified, and more interesting than you think you are! Don’t get in your own way.
Give me tips for moving to Philly I guess
It only takes one (good) offer to make a successful cycle. Given my goals (clerking + working in DC,) UVA with $$$ is about as ideal of an outcome as there could have been for me. Deferring to complete an M.A. at my undergraduate institution using my last year of scholarship funds there. UVA allowed me to keep my…
Completed all applications by the first week in October. Wrote at least one optional for all schools! 155 -> 167 -> 175 (No addendum written)
Softs matter more than you think! LSAT is important, but it’s not everything, don’t sell yourself and what you have to offer short. Also, spend time on your personal statement, it matters more than people admit
I’d recommend casting a wide net and trying, to the best of your abilities, to avoid having a “dream school.” It is much better to wait until you get decisions to get excited about a school in particular. Also send out hail-mary applications, LSD chat convinced me to apply to Cornell 3/1 and now I’m going there.
Wrote optional essays for all schools that requested them - I always wrote a “Why X” if it was an option and then any other pertinent prompts. A WashU AO said my personal statement was one of the best she’d ever read during my interview with them, so I’d say my writing was likely pretty good. Sent periodic LOCIs…
