2 years UG gap to help family pay rent. Started studying March 2024, final test was October. Diagnostic with LG’s was 156, w/o was 160. Highest PT so was 177 (PT#158), average 167 but average for last 5 was 168. Study 2 times a week, practice test every 1-2 weeks using 7Sage. J.Y.‘s explanations are not super useful…

Admitted to University of WisconsinAsk your recommenders months ahead of September. I didn’t get my second letter submitted until after the new year despite asking in August, and it hurt my scholarship and admissions chances. If you’re a splitter, target splitter friendly schools and write optional essays. In the end, I went with the school that gave…
I think my personal statement was probably a bit weak, I really struggled to even write the mediocre one I ended up with. WashU undergrad with strong ties to the law school. Admittedly not the best applicant, but hey, worth a shot. Want to be back in STL, love the city, so SLU at $$$$ meant I was free rolling the…
Shoot your shot
If you can, apply early. I decided late in the year to go to law school and thus I didn’t give myself enough of a chance for some of the schools and their merit aid options (I also had a limited time to study for the LSAT—6 weeks using Khan Academy—which was not ideal). However, I’m very proud of my waitlists…
LSAT 172 GPA 3.36 2021–22 cycle
Attending Washington University in St. Louis
I pointedly did not have a first choice school, which I think was helpful. Had a few potential red flags—lower GPA, long COVID-related employment gap, minor C&F—that turned out to be non-issues. Wrote several addenda explaining the above. My PS was completely unrelated to law, I was enamored with a creative topic I…
Apply early, write optional essays, and really dive into the schools you’re applying to. See what programs exist, what schools have similar clinics and externships and compare between them to understand the differences, understand how law school works – and then you’ll be able to write more convincingly about why…
Extremely grateful for the decisions I have received and for being done with this process. If I had to start this cycle all over again, I would have cut down my school list. Although I received fee waivers to every school I applied to, there was never a realistic chance I would have attended some of these schools.…
“If it is right, it happens — The main thing is not to hurry. Nothing good gets away” - John Steinbeck
Best advice I got: “you don’t need to stand out, you just need to get in” - Notre Dame admissions rep.
Apply broadly and shoot your shot because none of this makes sense. Have a cohesive narrative - this definitely helped me to outperform my numbers. Wrote GPA addendum related to addiction, LSAT addendum related to poor standardized test taking history and anxiety, wrote optional essays for all schools. 4 LSAT takes:…
Don’t apply to 35 schools like me hoping you’ll get in somewhere cool. Only apply to schools you could reasonably see yourself going to (why on earth did I apply to Fordham?). Write a “Why X” statement whenever possible, those are absolutely the most impactful.
Leave this process regretting nothing! Do the campus visit, take that extra hour on your personal statement, get another set of eyes on your resume, TAKE THE LSAT AGAIN (none of the other stuff matters if your foot isn’t in the door with yiour LSAT score unfortunately) Trust me, you only want to apply to law school…
UMN UR3: 01/12 UR4: 01/25 UVA UR3: 01/17, Interview on 01/23; UR4 01/23 UR5 01/24 Georgetown Interview: 01/22 Committed to Berkeley originally but got a feeler call from Michigan which was my first choice going into the cycle. I decided to visit the school and set up a campus visit. 3 days later, I got the call!…
This process is a bear, but don’t let the bastards get you down. Remember always the immortal words of Edwin Markham that “defeat may yet still serve as well as victory to shake the soul and let all the glory out”
I started this cycle knowing much less about the application process than I did by the time I got my final decision. Biggest things I learned: Study your ass off for the LSAT and apply broadly! I am happy with attending Wisconsin and staying on Michigan’s WL, but am planning on retaking the LSAT in June - if I score…
You gotta get that LSAT score up, that is a rookie LSAT score. Then safety, target, and reach schools. If you’re done with LSAT, prepare applications for submission as early as possible. When you’re ready to submit everything, make yourself wait one full day so you can read it with fresh eyes one last time. My…
LSAT 167 GPA 3.67 2023–24 cycle
Attending Indiana University - Bloomington
Ask for fee waivers everywhere- , no matter what your stats are. I didn’t pay a single application fee and saved hundreds of dollars. This is a fairly predictable game. You don’t need more than 2-3 safety schools. I wasted time working on so many applications to places that I wouldn’t even want to attend. LSAT Demon…
