Admitted to Yeshiva University (Cardozo)Have been working for a law firm doing Claims Review (wahoo…not) for the two years I have been out of school. 3 strong letters of recommendation. A number of volunteering activities after college and one board position. Figured I spent enough time agonizing over other people’s numbers I might as well put mine up.…
I did my masters and undergraduate in Bioengineering, looking to get into biotech patent law. To any future STEMS like me follow my journey. Did personalized essays for each school, and spent lots of extra activities during master’s and undergraduate. Might be T2 idk what graduate degrees are considered, but looking…
Having an abysmal undergrad GPA is not ideal but isn’t the end of the world. Getting at least a 160 on the LSAT opens a ton of doors. In hindsight I waited way too long between undergrad and law school due to my undergrad performance. Ideally, a 3 year separation between end of college and start of law school…
Wrote Why X/ Optional Essays for all schools BC and higher on my list except NYU (added a personalized paragraph to my PS instead) and ASU Fee waivers: some through LSAC, some solicited by asking to alleviate the financial burden of applying , some solicited based on merit once I emailed the school my fellowship…
My work experience is in government affairs analyzing and advocating for or against legislation on behalf of corporate and nonprofit clients. First generation college student. Graduated undergrad in 3 years with a double major and a minor. Worked full time while in college. Wrote optional diversity essays for BU and…
shoot your shot take a gap year(s) and get experience and raise your score prestige matters but dont do it at the expense of financial sanity believe in yourself get an honest opinion of someone at the school (preferably a 2L or 3L not connected to the admissions outreach process) spellcheck your apps lol
Enjoy the little things in life. Law school is tough and working in law is no easy journey. The job can be stressful and take a toll on your health. I find that being grateful for the most basic things in life is a great way to manage the stress and intensity and even turn them into positive forms of reinforcement.
In general, not bad results with my stats. Retaking and reapplying next cycle.
I have really weird softs, the kind that one admissions professional might see and say “how unique, that’s a great foundation for a lawyer” and someone else could easily say “this means absolutely nothing”. I put it in as 3, probably it’s really a 4, but the right reader might have given me a lot more credit.
I’m grateful I even have this opportunity. If you asked me two years ago where I would be today, I wouldn’t have believed I’d still be alive. All Glory to the Lord
Truly no idea how I got into Berk (but so so grateful) - maybe living in the bay + tech background coupled with my career goals helped? Berkeley Essays: 4 pg ps- why Berk (attended a prelaw event and wrote about it) DS (I’m nURM) but wrote about living between two countries
I spent about 120 total hours on my application materials, working hard to build a compelling narrative. **Supplemental Essays: ** Why NYU Why Mich Why Fordham Why NDLS GULC #2 Why UF Why UNC Why USC Why Vanderbilt Why UVA Why Minnesota Why UGA PS Why “X” Endings: BU NW
I am a re-applicant from the 2019-2020 cycle. (153–> 160) (re-applying during this cycle made me want to roll over and diieeee) anyways The only schools I am re-applying to from last cycle are Cardozo and Loyola. Those outcomes last cycle were: Cardozo WL Loyola Rejected
Get good grades, take the LSAT seriously, and apply early. There is no such thing as a “lock,” and schools will surprise you both ways. I wish I applied to HYS but didn’t think my stats were good enough after I got my ED deferred from NYU. That was dumb. Cast a wide net.
ask for letters of rec MONTHS in advance!! have back-ups ready as well if you can, i literally got completely ghosted by a professor and a dean after they agreed to letters. waiting up on these letters cost me about a month and a half because i couldn’t submit without them
Initially applied with a 167. Scored a 172 on the January 2021 LSAT and applied with that afterward. DACA recipient. (out-of-state for UC system schools, which made me ineligible for any aid.) FYI I was able to afford my apps because I qualified for the LSAC waiver.
