Definitely be involved with extracurriculars in undergrad, but don’t spread yourself too thin just to add more to your resume. Even if you don’t have experience that directly relates to law or other related areas, there’s most likely a way to somehow tie that back into why you want to go to law school. Shoot your…

LSAT 172 GPA 3.36 2021–22 cycle
Attending Washington University in St. Louis
I pointedly did not have a first choice school, which I think was helpful. Had a few potential red flags—lower GPA, long COVID-related employment gap, minor C&F—that turned out to be non-issues. Wrote several addenda explaining the above. My PS was completely unrelated to law, I was enamored with a creative topic I…
Extremely grateful for the decisions I have received and for being done with this process. If I had to start this cycle all over again, I would have cut down my school list. Although I received fee waivers to every school I applied to, there was never a realistic chance I would have attended some of these schools.…
Super Splitter, non-traditional. My resume includes an MBA on which I received a ~3.50 GPA, as well as a hardship-based explanation for my low uGPA. I focused on my post-undergrad career (mid/high-level management and engineering positions in a fortune 250 company, volunteer experience, graduate work) in my essays…
Don’t apply to 35 schools like me hoping you’ll get in somewhere cool. Only apply to schools you could reasonably see yourself going to (why on earth did I apply to Fordham?). Write a “Why X” statement whenever possible, those are absolutely the most impactful.
I started this cycle knowing much less about the application process than I did by the time I got my final decision. Biggest things I learned: Study your ass off for the LSAT and apply broadly! I am happy with attending Wisconsin and staying on Michigan’s WL, but am planning on retaking the LSAT in June - if I score…
LSAT 167 GPA 3.67 2023–24 cycle
Attending Indiana University - Bloomington
Ask for fee waivers everywhere- , no matter what your stats are. I didn’t pay a single application fee and saved hundreds of dollars. This is a fairly predictable game. You don’t need more than 2-3 safety schools. I wasted time working on so many applications to places that I wouldn’t even want to attend. LSAT Demon…
Reapplicant from 20’-21’ cycle. Last year I applied with a 167 and got: A: UNH with $$$, Santa Clara with $ WL -> R: BU, BC, ND, Northeastern R: UCLA, USC, Berkeley I applied to more competitive schools this year and things are looking more favorable. It’s kind of odd how important a high LSAT is. My LSAC GPA is…
Trans/nonbinary student, background in activism and nonprofits. Did really strongly in the first half of college, did somewhat poorly in the second half—ultimately won a couple of awards though. Took a year to heal (lol) and become more of a functioning adult. Strongly recommend taking a year+ if you feel the…
this process is brutal. sometimes being chronically online makes it better (misery loves company, after all), but sometimes it will make it worse. make time to unplug and ride the wave. you’ll end up where you’re supposed to!
ᕙ(▀̿ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)ᕗ Optional/Why X: Columbia**, Michigan, Northwestern, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Notre Dame,**** Arizona State, UC Irvine, Illinois, William & Mary, Richmond, Penn State, Cincinnati, ****West Virginia **
Apply as early as possible and shoot your shot! You never know what might happen!
Phooey, I say, on all white-shoe college boys who edit their campus literary magazines. Give me an honest con man any day. Self-knowledge is key. Finding yourself along the way is a pain, but writing the personal statements can help. Dry out/get clean /before/ you apply, not during. Comparison is the thief of joy.…
Ask for fee waivers if you don’t get them. No point in being squeezed by both law schools and the LSAC if you don’t have to be. Schools are very generous with them. (And ask early, it can take a while to hear back sometimes) Cornell-bound! Good luck to all, spend more time studying for the LSAT than I did.
I heard this a lot before I applied, but I did not listen. Please remember: The admissions process does not define you. Find the best place for you. Not the one that everyone else thinks is best for you.
APPLY EARLY AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SAFETY, TARGET, AND REACH SCHOOLS! Also pls be nice to yourself during this process. You are applying to law school and that is pretty epic!
I applied so broadly because I wanted to try and negotiate scholarships. Unfortunately the only scholarship I was able to negotiate at all was at GULC. Looking back, I would have just blanketed the T20 + ND and ignored the rest, but I am nonetheless thankful for a successful cycle. GO BLUE!
