Most of what worked for me as a splitter–I assume that’s why you’re reading this–is what you would expect (difficult major + writing ability + significant work experience) and doesn’t lend itself to “advice.” I did, however, think about how to address a downward trend in my grades. Admitted to Temple University…was in November. All this applies doubly if you’re a splitter, like I was.

If you’re like me, work extra hard on your personal statement and essays, do ALL of the optional/supplemental components, and have help with proofreading and edits and suggestions. Submit your best possible app even to your “safety”…
Advice: Lock in freshman year for the GPA. Don’t be a splitter. I started fixing my grades junior year fall and have had As and A+s since. Retaking classes that I previously got Ds in, so my school GPA is higher than LSAC’s. If I could do it all over again with the knowledge I have now I’d definitely devote myself…
