Simple English definitions for legal terms

admensuratione dotis

Read a random definition: National Organ Transplant Act

A quick definition of admensuratione dotis:

Admensuratione Dotis: This is a legal term that refers to a writ used to recover property from a widow who held more than she was entitled to. It was also known as admeasurement of dower. Admeasurement means assigning a fixed quantity or value to something, or establishing limits. In the past, there was also a writ called admeasurement of pasture, which was used to stop people's cattle from overgrazing a common pasture.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Admensuratione dotis refers to the admeasurement of dower, which is the process of determining the amount of property that a widow is entitled to after her husband's death.

Example 1: In the past, if a widow was holding more property than she was entitled to, a writ called admeasurement of dower could be used to recover the excess property.

Example 2: Admeasurement of pasture was another type of writ used in the past to address overgrazing of common pastures by someone's cattle.

These examples illustrate how admeasurement was used in the past to determine and assign a fixed quantity or value of property or establish limits, and how writs were used to address situations where someone was taking more than their rightful share of property or resources.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
