Blue List

Read a random definition: liquidity ratio

A quick definition of Blue List:

Blue List: A list of municipal bonds that are available for resale in the secondary market. The list is printed on blue paper and includes information such as the number of bonds offered, issuer, maturity date, coupon rate, price, and dealer making the offering. It gives an indication of the size and liquidity of the secondary municipal market. The list does not include ratings but has sections on settlement dates of recent new offerings, prerefunded bonds, and miscellaneous offerings. It also includes some U.S. government and agency obligations, railroad equipment trust certificates, corporate bonds, and even preferred stocks.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: The Blue List is a daily listing of secondary-market offerings of municipal bonds. It is printed on blue paper and provides information such as the number of bonds offered, issuer, maturity date, coupon rate, price, and dealer making the offering. Ratings are not included.

For example, if you want to buy a municipal bond that someone else already owns, you can look at the Blue List to see what bonds are available for resale in the secondary market. The Blue List is organized by state, so you can easily find bonds from the state you are interested in.

The Blue List also includes information on settlement dates of recent new offerings, prerefunded bonds, and miscellaneous offerings such as U.S. government and agency obligations, railroad equipment trust certificates, corporate bonds, and even preferred stocks. The dollar value of listings, referred to as the floating supply, gives an indication of the size and liquidity of the secondary municipal market.

In summary, the Blue List is a useful tool for investors who want to buy or sell municipal bonds in the secondary market. It provides important information about available bonds and helps investors make informed decisions.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)
