Cable and Satellite Directive

Read a random definition: Department of Social Services

A quick definition of Cable and Satellite Directive:

Term: Cable and Satellite Directive

Definition: The Cable and Satellite Directive is a set of rules that help protect the rights of people who create movies, TV shows, and music. It applies to companies that use cables or satellites to broadcast these things to people's homes. The rules make sure that the creators of these things get paid for their work, even if it's being shown in a different country.

A more thorough explanation:

The Cable and Satellite Directive is a legal document that coordinates certain rules regarding copyright and neighboring rights for satellite broadcasting and cable retransmission. It is also known as the Directive on the Coordination of Certain Rules Concerning Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Applicable to Satellite Broadcasting and Cable Retransmission.

For example, the Cable and Satellite Directive ensures that broadcasters are able to receive fair compensation for the use of their content by cable and satellite providers. It also establishes rules for cross-border broadcasting and retransmission of content.

Another example is that the Cable and Satellite Directive requires cable and satellite providers to obtain licenses for the content they broadcast or retransmit. This helps to protect the rights of content creators and ensures that they are properly compensated for their work.

Overall, the Cable and Satellite Directive helps to regulate the use of copyrighted content in the broadcasting and retransmission industries, while also protecting the rights of content creators.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
