A conversion divorce is a type of divorce that is granted after the parties have signed a separation agreement or a legal separation has been granted, and they have lived separately for a certain period of time as prescribed by law. This type of divorce is also known as a conditional divorce.
For example, in some states, a couple may be required to live separately for a year before they can file for a conversion divorce. Once the required period has passed, the court can grant the divorce.
Conversion divorce is different from other types of divorce, such as contested divorce, fault divorce, and no-fault divorce, which have different requirements and procedures.
