A quick definition of court-appointed expert:

A court-appointed expert is someone who is chosen by a judge to give their opinion on a subject in a court case. They are supposed to be fair and not take sides. This person has a lot of knowledge or experience in a certain area and can help the judge or jury understand things better. There are also other types of experts, like consulting experts who are hired by one side, and testifying experts who will speak in court.

A more thorough explanation:

A court-appointed expert is a person who is appointed by the court to provide an unbiased opinion on a particular subject. This person has developed skill or knowledge in a specific area through education or experience and can assist the fact-finder in making a decision.

  • During a trial, a judge may appoint a medical expert to provide an opinion on the cause of a person's injuries.
  • In a custody case, a court-appointed expert may be asked to evaluate the mental health of each parent and make a recommendation to the court.

These examples illustrate how a court-appointed expert can provide valuable information to the court and help the fact-finder make an informed decision. The expert is expected to be impartial and provide an unbiased opinion based on their knowledge and expertise.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
