delinquent child

A quick definition of delinquent child:

A delinquent child is a young person who has done something wrong that would be considered a crime if an adult did it. This means they may have broken the law and could get in trouble with the police. It's important for children to understand that it's not okay to break the law and that there are consequences for their actions.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: A child who has committed an offense that would be a crime if committed by an adult.

Examples:

  • A 15-year-old who steals from a store
  • A 13-year-old who vandalizes property
  • A 16-year-old who assaults someone

These examples illustrate the definition of a delinquent child because they involve minors who have committed acts that are considered criminal offenses. While these children may not be subject to the same legal consequences as adults, they may still face punishment or rehabilitation through the juvenile justice system.
