Simple English definitions for legal terms

denize

Read a random definition: M1

A quick definition of denize:

Denize: To make someone a citizen of a foreign country. A denizen is someone who has certain rights in a foreign country or who is in a position between being a foreigner and a citizen.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Denize (den-Iz or di-nIz) is a verb that means to make a person a denizen. A denizen is someone who has been given certain rights in a foreign nation or who habitually lives in a foreign nation. In English law, a denizen is a person who holds a position between being an alien and a natural-born or naturalized subject.

Examples:

  • After living in France for five years, John was denized and granted the right to vote in local elections.
  • The denizen population in the city has grown significantly in recent years due to an influx of immigrants.

These examples illustrate how denize is used to describe the process of making someone a denizen. In the first example, John has been living in France and is now granted certain rights as a denizen. In the second example, the denizen population is growing due to an increase in people who habitually live in the city as denizens.

Note: Denize is not a commonly used word and may not be familiar to many people. It is important to understand the definition of denizen in order to fully understand the meaning of denize.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)
