A quick definition of despot:

Term: DESPOT

Definition: A despot is a person who has complete control and power over a country or group of people. They can make decisions without anyone else's input and often use their power to oppress others. Another word for a despot is a tyrant. We also use the word "despotic" to describe someone who acts like a despot.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: A despot is a ruler who has complete and absolute power over a country or people. They are often seen as tyrants who use their power to control and oppress their subjects.

Examples:

  • Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea, is often referred to as a despot because he has complete control over the country and its people.
  • During the 16th century, Ivan the Terrible was a Russian despot who ruled with an iron fist and was known for his brutal tactics.
  • Historically, many ancient empires were ruled by despots who had complete control over their subjects, such as the pharaohs of Egypt and the emperors of Rome.

These examples illustrate how a despot is a ruler who has complete and unchecked power over their subjects. They are often seen as oppressive and cruel, using their power to maintain control and suppress any dissent or opposition.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
Give it 4 more weeks at least. Everyone in this chat needs to wait longer.
