  Imagine a severe car accident where a vehicle sustains such extensive damage that it is declared "totaled" by an insurance company, meaning the cost to repair it exceeds its market value. The vehicle is no longer safe or practical to drive.

  This illustrates destruction because the car, despite still physically existing, has been rendered inoperable and has lost its primary function and significant monetary value as a result of the damage. It has been effectively ruined for its intended purpose.

  A city council approves the demolition of an abandoned, structurally unsound factory building to clear the land for a new public park. Construction crews use heavy machinery to systematically dismantle and collapse the entire structure.

  This is a clear instance of destruction. The factory building, which once stood as a functional structure, is intentionally and completely demolished, ceasing to exist in its original form and losing all its structural integrity and utility.
