Directive on Rental, Lending and Certain Neighbouring Rights

Read a random definition: commorientes

A quick definition of Directive on Rental, Lending and Certain Neighbouring Rights:

The Directive on Rental, Lending and Certain Neighbouring Rights is a set of rules created by the European Commission in 1992. It helps to make sure that people who create things like movies and music get paid when their work is rented or lent out. It also gives rights to performers, producers, broadcasters, and cable distributors. This is also known as the Rental and Related Rights Directive or Rental Directive.

A more thorough explanation:

The Directive on Rental, Lending and Certain Neighbouring Rights is a set of rules created by the European Commission in 1992. It aims to ensure that copyright owners are reimbursed for the rental and lending of their works, such as videotapes and other copies. It also establishes the rights of performers, producers, broadcasters, and cable distributors.

For example, if a library lends out a DVD of a movie, the copyright owner should receive compensation for that rental. Similarly, if a cable company broadcasts a TV show, the performers and producers should receive fair compensation for their work.

The Directive helps to protect the rights of creators and ensure that they are fairly compensated for the use of their works. It also helps to promote the availability of creative works for the public to enjoy.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
Give it 4 more weeks at least. Everyone in this chat needs to wait longer.
