The term explees (often spelled esplees) refers to the profits, products, or benefits derived from land or other real property. Historically, this term was significant in legal actions to demonstrate that a person had actual possession of land, as evidenced by their receipt of its income or yield. In modern contexts, it broadly encompasses any tangible or intangible benefit generated by property.

Here are some examples to illustrate the concept of explees:

• Agricultural Profits: Imagine a vineyard owner who cultivates grapes on their land. After harvesting the grapes, they sell them to wineries or produce wine for sale. The revenue generated from the sale of these grapes or wine represents the explees of the vineyard.

  This example demonstrates explees because the grapes and the income from their sale are the direct products and profits yielded by the agricultural land.

• Rental Income from Commercial Property: Consider a company that owns an office building and leases out individual office suites to various businesses. Each month, the company collects rent from its tenants.

  The monthly rental payments received by the company are the explees of the office building. These payments are the regular profits and benefits generated by the commercial real estate.

• Mineral Rights and Royalties: Suppose a landowner has property under which valuable minerals are discovered. They enter into an agreement with a mining company, granting the company the right to extract these minerals in exchange for a percentage of the profits, known as royalties.
