Simple English definitions for legal terms

extenta manerii

Read a random definition: advancing market

A quick definition of extenta manerii:

Extenta Manerii: A law in England that requires a survey of a manor and all its parts to be made. This law is called "the extent of a manor" in Latin.

A more thorough explanation:

EXTENTA MANERII

Extenta manerii is a Latin term that means "the extent of a manor." It refers to an English statute called 4 Edw., St. 1, which requires a survey to be conducted of a manor and all its associated properties.

For example, if a lord owned a manor, he would need to conduct a survey of all the land, buildings, and other assets associated with that manor. This would include things like farms, mills, and forests. The survey would help the lord keep track of all his property and make sure that everything was being used properly.

Another example would be if a manor was sold to a new owner. The new owner would need to conduct a survey to make sure that they knew exactly what they were buying. This would help them avoid any surprises or disputes with the previous owner.

The examples illustrate how extenta manerii was used in practice. It was a way for lords and landowners to keep track of their property and make sure that everything was being used properly. It was also a way for buyers to make sure that they knew exactly what they were getting when they purchased a manor. Overall, extenta manerii was an important part of English land law and helped to ensure that property rights were respected and protected.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
