Simple English definitions for legal terms

factory act

Read a random definition: depletion allowance

A quick definition of factory act:

The Factory Act is a law that makes sure workers are safe and healthy while they work. It also sets rules for how long they can work. Pleading is a formal document that people use in court to say what they think happened or what they want to happen. There are different types of pleadings, like ones that give facts and ones that just make arguments. The rules for how to make a pleading are called pleading rules.

A more thorough explanation:

A law that sets rules for the working hours, health, and safety of workers. It is similar to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Example: The Factory Act requires that workers cannot work more than 8 hours a day and must have breaks during their shift to prevent exhaustion and injury.

This example shows how the Factory Act regulates the working hours and health of workers to ensure their safety and well-being.

A formal document that a party in a legal case files to respond to allegations, claims, denials, or defenses.

Example: A plaintiff files a complaint to start a civil lawsuit, and the defendant files an answer to respond to the allegations in the complaint.

This example shows how pleading is used in a civil lawsuit to present the parties' positions and allegations to the court.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
