GDN stands for GUARDIAN.

A Guardian is a person legally appointed by a court to manage the personal well-being, financial affairs, or both, of another individual who is unable to make such decisions for themselves. This individual, known as the ward, is typically a minor child or an adult who has been deemed legally incapacitated due to illness, disability, or advanced age. The guardian has a legal and ethical duty to act solely in the best interests of their ward.

• Example 1: Guardianship for a Minor Child

  After a tragic accident, a court appoints Sarah's aunt, Maria, as her legal guardian. Sarah is 8 years old and her parents passed away. As guardian, Maria is responsible for Sarah's daily care, education, medical decisions, and managing any inheritance Sarah received until Sarah reaches adulthood. This illustrates a guardian's role in providing comprehensive care and managing assets for a minor who cannot legally make decisions for herself.

• Example 2: Guardianship for an Incapacitated Adult
