Simple English definitions for legal terms

hamesucken

Read a random definition: new court commitment

A quick definition of hamesucken:

Hamesucken is a Scottish law term that refers to a serious crime where someone breaks into a house to commit theft or assault on the householder. It is also known as housebreaking or burglary accompanied by violence. The term comes from Anglo-Saxon law and means "breaching the peace of another's home." This crime has always been considered very serious and is punished accordingly.

A more thorough explanation:

Hamesucken is a term used in Scots law to describe the crime of breaking into someone's home and assaulting them or stealing from them. It is also known as housebreaking or burglary accompanied by violence. The term comes from Anglo-Saxon law and means "breaching the peace of another's home."

An example of hamesucken would be if someone broke into a house and attacked the homeowner in order to steal their valuables. Another example would be if someone broke into a house and threatened the occupants with violence in order to force them to give up their possessions.

These examples illustrate the definition of hamesucken because they both involve breaking into someone's home and using violence or the threat of violence to commit a crime. This is considered a very serious offense in Scots law and can result in severe punishment.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)
