Simple English definitions for legal terms

inexcusable neglect

Read a random definition: surviving

A quick definition of inexcusable neglect:

Inexcusable neglect is when someone fails to do something they were supposed to do, and there is no good reason for it. It's not just a mistake or forgetfulness, but a serious and unjustifiable failure to take care of something or someone. For example, if a parent doesn't give their child the things they need to be healthy and safe, that's inexcusable neglect. It's important to take responsibility for our duties and not neglect them, especially when it can harm others.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Inexcusable neglect refers to neglect that is unjustifiable and implies more than unintentional inadvertence. It is a failure to do something that a person was duty-bound to do, and the failure cannot be excused.

Examples:

  • Child Neglect: When a person responsible for a minor fails to care for the minor's emotional or physical needs, it is considered child neglect. This can include failure to provide food, shelter, clothing, medical care, or education. Child neglect is a form of child abuse and can result in criminal charges.
  • Medical Neglect: When a person fails to provide necessary medical, dental, or psychiatric care that is required to prevent or treat serious physical or emotional injury or illness, it is considered medical neglect. This can result in harm to the individual and may be considered a form of abuse.
  • Physical Neglect: When a person fails to provide necessaries, such as food, shelter, or clothing, and the lack of these items has caused or could cause serious injury or illness, it is considered physical neglect. This can also be a form of abuse.

These examples illustrate inexcusable neglect because they involve a failure to provide necessary care or attention that a person was duty-bound to provide. The neglect is not accidental or unintentional, but rather a willful disregard for the well-being of another person. Inexcusable neglect can have serious consequences and may result in legal action.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
Give it 4 more weeks at least. Everyone in this chat needs to wait longer.
