mechanical right

A quick definition of mechanical right:

Term: Mechanical Right

Definition: Mechanical right is the permission to make a copy of a song in a recorded form, like on a CD or tape. This permission is obtained by paying a fee called a statutory royalty, and it is not necessary to ask the songwriter for permission. Mechanical right is different from performance right, which is the permission to play a song in public.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Mechanical right is the right to make copies of a song in a recorded form, like on a CD or audiotape. This right is protected by copyright laws and can be obtained by paying a royalty fee. The songwriter's permission is not required to obtain this right.

Example: If a musician wants to record a cover of a popular song, they must obtain a mechanical license to legally reproduce the song on their album. They must pay a royalty fee to the copyright owner, but they do not need to ask the songwriter for permission.

Explanation: This example illustrates how mechanical right works in the music industry. The musician wants to make a copy of a song, so they must obtain a mechanical license and pay a fee to the copyright owner. This allows them to legally reproduce the song on their album without needing the songwriter's permission.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
Give it 4 more weeks at least. Everyone in this chat needs to wait longer.
