numerical lottery

Read a random definition: United States Fish and Wildlife Service

A quick definition of numerical lottery:

A numerical lottery is a way for governments to raise money by selling tickets and giving prizes to those who hold tickets with winning numbers that are drawn at random. It's like a game where you pick numbers and hope they match the ones that are drawn. There are different types of numerical lotteries, such as the Dutch lottery where the number and value of prizes increase with each class, and the Genoese lottery where players wager on five numbers out of 90 consecutive numbers. Numerical lotteries have been around for a long time and are still popular today.

A more thorough explanation:

Numerical lottery is a type of lottery where players buy tickets with numbers on them and hope that their numbers will be drawn at random. If their numbers match the winning numbers, they win a prize, usually a large cash prize.

  • Genoese Lottery: In this type of numerical lottery, five numbers are drawn out of 90 consecutive numbers. Players bet on one or more of the numbers they have chosen to be drawn. This type of lottery originated in Genoa in the 16th century.
  • Dutch Lottery: This type of numerical lottery originated in Holland in the 16th century. Tickets are drawn from classes, and the number and value of prizes increase with each class.

These examples illustrate how numerical lotteries work. Players buy tickets with numbers on them and hope that their numbers will be drawn at random. If their numbers match the winning numbers, they win a prize.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
