Definition: A nuntius is a messenger who delivers news or messages. In Roman law, declarations made through a messenger were considered just as valid as those made by letter. In history, a nuntius was also a messenger sent to make an excuse for a party's absence in court or an officer of the court. In ecclesiastical law, a nuntius is also known as a nuncio.
