Term: OFF POINT

Definition: When someone is off point, it means they are not discussing the exact topic that is being talked about. This can make their comments or ideas irrelevant to the conversation. The opposite of off point is on point, which means someone is discussing the exact issue at hand.

Definition: Not discussing the precise issue at hand; irrelevant. Compare with ON POINT.

During a debate about climate change, a politician starts talking about their favorite sports team. This is off point because it is not related to the topic being discussed.
In a job interview, the interviewer asks about your experience with a certain software program. If you start talking about your hobbies instead, you are off point because you are not addressing the question asked.

These examples illustrate the definition of off point because in both situations, the person is not addressing the topic or question at hand. They are bringing up irrelevant information that does not contribute to the conversation or answer the question asked.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)
