A quick definition of Poppean law:

Poppean law, also known as lex Papia Poppea, was a law proposed by two Roman consuls named Papius and Poppeus at the request of Augustus. It is often considered together with another law called lex Julia de maritandis ordinibus. This law was created during the Roman Empire and is important in understanding the legal system of that time.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Poppean law is a law proposed by the consuls Papius and Poppeus at the request of Augustus in ancient Rome. It is usually considered with the lex Julia de maritandis ordinibus as one law.

Example: The Poppean law was created to encourage marriage and childbirth among Roman citizens. It offered rewards and incentives to those who had children and punished those who did not.

Explanation: The Poppean law was designed to increase the population of Rome by encouraging citizens to have more children. The law offered rewards such as tax breaks and inheritance rights to those who had children, while punishing those who did not by denying them certain privileges. This law was part of a larger effort by Augustus to strengthen the Roman Empire by increasing its population and promoting traditional Roman values.

my controversial opinion for the night is that I think it’s kind of silly when someone says they’ve read a book when what they actually mean is they listened to the audiobook as background noise while running errands
I’ve never listened to a complete audiobook and don’t know how people do it. Just read lol

I listen to audiobooks and autistically stare into space. It's part of my personal brand of being a guy with aspergers and a 9 inch penis who hasn't fucked in 4 years. I agree, personal brand is important.
