Rights-consciousness refers to an individual's or a group's awareness and understanding of their legal rights, entitlements, and protections, as well as their readiness to assert or defend those rights when they perceive them to be violated or threatened. It involves not just knowing what rights exist, but also having the inclination and confidence to act upon that knowledge.

• Example 1: Consumer Protection

  A customer buys a new smartphone that malfunctions significantly within the first month. Instead of simply accepting the faulty device, the customer immediately researches their consumer rights regarding defective products and contacts the store, clearly stating their right to a repair, replacement, or refund under the warranty and consumer protection laws.

  This example illustrates rights-consciousness because the customer is aware of their legal entitlement to a functional product and actively uses that knowledge to demand a remedy, rather than passively accepting the situation.
