Definition: A ticket is a piece of paper that shows you have the right to do something or get something. For example, a bus ticket shows you can ride the bus, and a movie ticket shows you can watch a movie. Sometimes, a ticket can also be a piece of paper that says you did something wrong, like getting a speeding ticket for driving too fast. Finally, a ticket can also be a way to vote for a group of people who are running for office, called a straight-party ticket.
