transnational adoption

A quick definition of transnational adoption:

Transnational adoption is when a child is adopted by parents from a different country. This is also called international adoption. It happens when the child is an orphan or has been abandoned, or when the parents' parental rights have been taken away by a court. Adoption creates a new family relationship between the child and the adoptive parents, with all the rights and responsibilities that come with it. This is different from fostering or taking care of a child temporarily. Adoption is a special legal process that makes the child a permanent part of the new family.

A more thorough explanation:

Transnational adoption, also known as international adoption, is the process of adopting a child from a different country. It involves creating a parent-child relationship between two parties who are usually unrelated by blood or marriage.

The adoption process requires a determination that the child is an orphan, has been abandoned, or that the parents' parental rights have been terminated by court order. Once the adoption is finalized, the adopted child becomes the legal child of the adoptive parents with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities that come with that relationship.

For example, a couple from the United States may adopt a child from China. The couple would go through the legal process of adoption in both countries, and once the adoption is finalized, the child would become a legal citizen of the United States and have all the rights and privileges of a natural-born child.

Transnational adoption is a way for families to provide a loving home for children who may not have had that opportunity otherwise. However, it is important to ensure that the adoption process is ethical and that the best interests of the child are always the top priority.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)
