Try your best to not compare yourself to other applicants. It’s okay. You will still get to law school and you will become a lawyer. Make sure you get letters of recommendation from people that can actually vouch for you. Bland letters do not help. Apply as early as possible. Once you’re happy with your LSAT score,…

Admitted to Florida State UniversityMake sure you give AMPLE time to study for the LSAT. I know far too many people that barely studied and just went wherever they got in. The LSAT and your GPA are about a 50/50 split of impact. You spent 4 whole years and literally countless hours to earn your GPA, so the other 50% of your application deserves more…
If I could do it over I would apply to more T14s, even those I have no interest in, just to have more leverage in scholarship negotiations.
Definitely focus on the LSAT and writing supplements! I really do believe that increasing my LSAT score and working on my essays were a large factor in my acceptances and scholarships, as well as applying early (in October/early November). If an essay is optional, do it. Schools expect you to complete all writing…
I gave it my all. If it didn’t work out, it wasn’t the right fit. 1st update: I got into law school :) 2nd update: I got into a non-safety school :) Final update: in at my top choice :D
For advice, the best I can say is don’t apply late in the cycle like I did. Had I been able to take the LSAT earlier and apply earlier, I could have maybe gotten into some schools where I was waitlisted and rejected. My top choices where I was accepted were Washington and Lee, Kansas, Wisconsin, Idaho, and Florida…
woah… doozy of a cycle. WRITE AN LOCI TO UVA IF ITS BEEN OVER 3 MONTHS SINCE YOU SUBMITTED!!!!! Also attach a Why UVA statement to your application.
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
It’s better to have a higher LSAT score than applying early and February is NOT too late to take the LSAT! I applied in November 2023 w/ a 154 LSAT and then decided to put my applications on hold to retake the LSAT in Feb. FSU accepted me w/ my 154 and I sent my Feb score (159) to the schools I put on hold and was…
Don’t listen to the outside noise and do you. Find what makes you happy and listen to your heart. It’s your life and nobody else can live it for you so make sure you make a decision that YOU are happy with! Keep an open mind throughout this process. What may have been your first choice may turn out to not be after…
I submitted a diversity statement and optional essays for all universities that allowed for it. In addition, I toured UGA and Emory and spoke to admission directors at Alabama, Emory, Ohio State, UGA, USC, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest at a college law fair held at my undergraduate institution. I’m from the south, and…
Took the LSAT twice with one cancellation (got sick during the test). Scores were 158, cancel, 160. Applied with a diversity statement about chronic invisible illness, and a personal statement on my experience growing up with a parent that struggled with addiction. Included an academic addendum for two breaks in my…
Apply early and, if you can’t, consider delaying a year. Write the optional essays. Convincing schools that you will attend if accepted is important. Do not underestimate the power of crippling debt. Life changes all the time, but looming, inextinguishable debt is constant and will haunt you. When in doubt, take the…
Start visiting schools earlier if you can afford it!
Grad degree from FSU in Information Science, 2 years professional experience as Reference Librarian. Personal statement on importance of research and goal of becoming a law librarian. Feb LSAT was my first, looking for a longshot big scholarship to somewhere this cycle. If not, next cycle is where I’m headed!
My wisdom is that you’re probably up late right now stressing about if you’re going to get into your dream school and comparing yourself to other applicants on this site and freaking out over the cesspool that is r/Lawschooladmissions. You will get into great schools and be a great lawyer I swear. Now go to bed
Getting 4 points higher on the lsat than someone whos gpa is .5-.6 points higher becuase they majored in Communications and watching them get higher scholarships than me is infuriating. If youre in college, major in art, NUMBER BIGGER is all that matters, no degree of difficulty is weighed.
Spend plenty of time studying and preparing for the LSAT, be realistic about your chances at certain schools. And don’t stress too much once everything is submitted, find something to distract yourself. For the love of God don’t refresh this site constantly, it will destroy you, trust me.
