For future lurkers, the below are just my musings, so take them with a grain of salt! Reasons I think this cycle went well: Strong narrative focused on PI (and specifically public defense), reinforced by relevant legal internships- Active in undergrad extracurriculars. Did not expect this to help much, but it kept…

Admitted to University of California—BerkeleyTake as much time as you need for the LSAT, start very early or reapply if you can/need to, and have faith in yourself! Only take the LSAT once you are getting practice scores that you would be happy with as official scores!!!!! ««< Good luck! **Harvard Interview: ** I am one of the few people who got rejected from…
blackletterlaw left no wisdom for posterity… (◕︵◕) Do not let me and the advice I’ve written here deter you from going to law school (this is just meant to be as helpful as possible) and don’t let anyone (even adcomms) on the Internet or in your real personal life stop you from going if you have done the important,…

Don’t let the negativity get you down! There was so much negativity around me from the moment I started sharing I wanted to go to law school up until now (So much gatekeeping energy). The way so many voices seemed to say only stats matter or implied my story wouldn’t cut it made me so nervous. However, even if…
Don’t let anyone discourage you from applying beyond your stats! I was incredibly nervous going into the cycle and had convinced myself I wouldn’t be admitted anywhere, and lo and behold, I had the cycle of my absolute dreams. My biggest piece of advice would be to find your particular area of interest and let it…
Don’t use AI. Use your own words. They can tell. Get some work experience. There’s no reason to rush, you’re young. Practice your writing. Take the LSAT writing portion seriously. Apply only to places you can imagine going.
Don’t sell yourself short, shoot your shot! Also, make sure to read every school’s individual instructions before submitting your materials.
I think the reason I did very well despite being KJD and below T14 LSAT median is that my application heavily centered around a cohesive theme (basically my Why Law) which tied together every single part of my application. My personal statement, diversity statement, resume, and school supplemental essays were all…
Hi! I don’t have any crazy advice - I knew I’d have to overcome my (old) GPA, so I got my LSAT as high as possible and spent a ton of time on my essays. Took the LSAT three times, which was clearly worth it. My WE carried my app for sure, so if you’ve got an interesting background, lean into it!
Not breaking into the 170s was actually, in fact, not the end of the world! Be confident in your narrative and humble in your expectations and the application process will be full of happy surprises :)
Applying during the 2024-2025 cycle. Currently in grad school and will update throughout the year. Used fee waivers for all application fees and all but 10 CAS fees. Did not negotiate with any school since most got back to me after I was happy with other offers.
As a re-applicant, I recommend reviewing my profile from the last cycle before proceeding (please refer to user “ModernSeoul”). Comparing the two, you’ll notice that I was much more successful this cycle than last, with over 8x more in scholarship money and 8 straight acceptances (compared to 0). I think this came…
Going in, I was so insecure about my GPA, so I made every effort to strengthen the rest of my application. i believe my cycle turned out as strong as it did because I didn’t take any part of the application for granted, especially the essays. Try out first drafts of different potential personal statement topics…
Gonna write this now even though its mid-March. Don’t sleep on your essays and recommendation letters. Fit is a huge factor for these schools and you can’t really fake fit. Be yourself in every piece of writing you submit. In your PS, try to interweave multiple stories or timelines from your life to fully articulate…
Overall, I was very lucky with how my cycle went. I think I owe this almost entirely to my work experience and LSAT score. **Work experience: **I have worked in public interest law for almost 7 years, so I believe my application/ resume showed clear public interest commitment and an obvious why law, but my essays…
take everything here and on reddit with a huge enormous grain of salt, and talk to real students/alums and admissions officers. literally no 0L knows what they’re talking about; this is all a chaotic mess of the blind leading the blind with that being said and with the huge disclaimer that i also do not know what…
I solicited need-based fee waivers from Yale and Harvard (denied by Stanford) and merit-based waivers from Georgetown and Berkeley. Berkeley was for Fulbright and Georgetown just the general merit-based waiver, although they reached out later and gave me a CRS waiver anyway. Everywhere else was unsolicited and these…
