…results on my part. I had banked on somewhat decent T4 softs + the 177 to get consideration in the T14, but oh well. Only real frustration I have is not knowing enough about the law school application process in high school, otherwise I might’ve stayed in the US to get a degree w/ GPA and also I would’ve taken the…
…foreign language double major- What I would guess are T2.5 softs (3 years in top consulting firm; relevant/competitive internships every summer and semester of college; AmeriCorps service; US Senate work; federal agency work; selective fellowship; exceptional amount of in-depth campus leadership experience;…
…students 😭 international students!!!!!!!!!! Work on your soft!
…a basic social work internship. I had one very interesting soft that was the basis for my PS and my DS (on par with homelessness, physical disability, or some other extreme position of disadvantage). KJD, URM (South American), first-gen immigrant and college student, low-income upbringing. **Tips & advice: **Apply…
no “optionals” are truly optional shoot your shot!!! you only apply to law school once (or twice, or thrice :p) cohesiveness is super important; softs only matter insofar as they fit into your narrative Wrote optionals: Penn, SLS, Berk 4 pg PS and why berk, why uva, vandy video essay, NU kira, why UCLA and prog…
Bi, pretty mediocre softs. Research and some student org stuff, all somewhat relevant to my PS topic though. Good LORs Wrote Yale 250 Wrote Stanford Three Songs Why X for Berk, Duke, and Michigan, Core Values for Penn. GULC Top 10 UChi UR3 12/21, UR4 1/18. NYU HTE 1/21 Duke UR3 2/16 GULC date disappeared 1/5.
…matter. 7sage’s predictor chanced me at 31% at UVA. Your softs and your application materials are important, so don’t sell yourself short! Essays + Additional Info Yale - Y250 on niche issue of academic interest HLS - KJ1 off the WL. Decided to withdraw after I interviewed off the WL, I’m set on UVA! UPenn - Core…
Combination of T2/T3 softs with relevant work experience in a niche interest. Applied as soon as applications opened for each school and received decisions during first wave except for NYU, Yale, and Stanford.
…to where I want to end up working. Pretty run of the mill softs: Pre-law club president, Swing Dance Society president, Volunteer throughout undergrad at local pet shelter, have worked in same place (full time summers, part time school year) for 6 years with two promotions during that time. Wrote a diversity…
My wisdom is this: I have no wisdom. I am a Mexican-American URM with a unique soft. I’m writing this before I receive any decision, but a horrible cycle would probably be due to me applying at 19 years old. If I had a normal/good cycle, then I guess age doesn’t matter!
Strong softs with a cohesive narrative (somewhere between tiers 2 and 3). TFA for 2 years after undergrad, with another year at a similar organization in a leadership role. Good luck, and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself!
Wrote Why X for Duke, Mich, Berkeley, Cornell, Virginia. Core Values for Penn. Additional Essays for Stanford and Georgetown. T3/T4 Softs STEM double major
Diversity statement about a unique childhood hardship and poverty (which by some classifications might mean T3 softs? T 3.5?) Wrote optional essays everywhere they were available Why x’s for all schools excluding: t6 (though included a paragraph in Columbia PS), WashU, BU, NW, + Core values instead of why X for Penn…
Softs: 4 years of (very unique) full time human rights & justice-based work experience, established community organizer, 1st gen lawyer/raised by a single mom, bi woman. Applied ED to Northwestern, but bumped to RD before acceptance.
Wrote Why X for my top choices, optional essays, and did requested, relevant addenda. Splitter but had some decent softs, there is hope for you!
Applied to every school under the sun because I was hunting that sweet $$$$. Take advantage of fee waivers. No special softs, but strong public service resume, solid recommendations, and creative essay topic. Proud to have two T14 A’s in the cycle from hell.
…patent law- DS: Discussed experiences as a woman in STEM Softs: STEM degree (EE)- Work experience as a software engineer Accelerated MBA degree
WE in litigation support; Political Science major at state flagship university; run-of-the-mill softs during undergrad; wrote GPA addendum about medical condition. I wrote optional essays for: Duke Michigan UCLA Georgetown Good luck to any lurking future applicants!
