Sign up for the Candidate Referral Service (CRS) on LSAC. You can get merit fee waiver from top schools this way, just because of your LSAT score and GPA. I got fee waivers and personal invitations to apply from 8/10 of my schools (all except Harvard and Stanford) through the CRS, and saved hundreds on application…

Admitted to Northwestern UniversityI was convinced going into the cycle that my KJD status would completely bar me from the t 3-5 schools, but I’m happy to have been wrong. Work experience is the right call for many people, but if you have high stats and have had exposure to legal work, I think you can have some confidence going in. A few random…
Ask for rec letters ASAP and ask for more than you need! My app materials were all done in November, but one of my rec letter writers didn’t submit until January and another didn’t even submit until February (I made the mistake of explaining rolling admissions and saying official deadlines are later. Don’t tell your…
Write the optional essays for every school you’re serious about, that is non-negotiable if you want the best odds. Also try and apply september/october, I still feel like that does make a difference at most schools. Did not think t6 was a possibility when the cycle first began due to my LSAT being lower than their…
Go with the choice that make the most financial sense. Less debt can mean more opportunities :)
I took my time on my essays and iterated a ton. I believe my work experience in M&A played a huge role in my A’s as well! Don’t psych yourself out of applying - shoot your shot!
Make sure you have specific* *- and meaningful reasons for wanting to go to law school and that your materials support this Apply before mid-Nov if possible; I think I got lucky but please don’t do what I did (esp for Duke) Hedge your expectations as an international student (esp for UChi, UVA, and Mich) Sending…
I think for reverse splitters it’s all about selling yourself through WE and essays. I meticulously planned how my WE would feed into my ‘Why Law,’ and I think that ended up setting me apart from other applicants. Secondly, if you’re any kind of splitter, you need to apply early. If you’re past the Thanksgiving…
apply EARLY. like september lol. and don’t give up on the LSAT until you get the highest score you can.
Very proud of all my statements. Wrote all optionals. Several T3 and T4 softs. FGLI. 1 year of relevant WE (I think not having more hurt me for YLS). Did everything I could to make my GPA the weakest part of my application. Applied late oct-early nov. Would recommend waiting until jan/feb to apply for YLS if you…
TOUGH cycle but grateful to land my dream school with generous scholarship. After two months of drafting and then hating what I drafted, I came up with a very incompetent PS on a extremely difficult topic, which was why I didn’t receive more offers. But fortunately, someone understood what I wrote and believed in my…
It took 3+ months to hear from most schools. Also, in general acceptances came later than rejections/waitlist decisions. Try to keep the faith during the wait. I wrote optional essays and Why X essays for all schools that mentioned them in their application. I did not write any pre-decision LOCIs.
It’s all God. Thank you Jesus for holding me tight, thank you Holy Spirit for giving me peace. Tell your story and trust in the Lord to do His will; whatever the destination, you will find peace in it.
Take sooooo many deep breaths. Everything happens for a reason. You are going to do great and end up right where you need to be!!!
For transparency, I’m attending Vanderbilt based on very personal reasons that also make the cost of living zero. If you’re looking at my profile and are weighing similar options, I would have gone to either UT or Northwestern if it weren’t for these circumstances. Go Commodores!
I told them Harvey Specter sent me
Try to get a good GPA in college, but if you can’t it’s not over. Write all the optionals, go to the LSAC fairs and talk to reps (I reminded one admissions team about our chat in my why x essay). If you’re on a waitlist, write them an earnest letter. Basically, be bold and put yourself out there as much as possible…
Reapplicant. Last year is https://www.lsd.law/users/creep/MindlessUsefulFox. Focusing on my essays and not applying as a KJD helped a lot the second time around.
