Initially applied with a 167. Scored a 172 on the January 2021 LSAT and applied with that afterward. DACA recipient. (out-of-state for UC system schools, which made me ineligible for any aid.) FYI I was able to afford my apps because I qualified for the LSAC waiver.

Kind of a unique background. Had an explanation for my low GPA and a decent why law. https://www.reddit.com/r/lawschooladmissions/comments/1c82nmv/splitter_cycle_recap/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Save up early bc apps are insanely expensive without fee waivers Start studying for the LSAT like a year in advance and if you can work with a private tutor, DO IT Listen to podcasts/absorb as much material about law school admissions as possible
Just keep surfin
Not a bad cycle overall. I got waitlisted more than I was expecting. Some advice: show interest! If you would consider a school and hold it above another school, then go to interest meetings and schedule meetings 1:1 with admissions people.
Give yourself a strict deadline for each aspect of your application… Send out LoR requests by the summer before applying, etc. Don’t be afraid to apply to reach schools. MANIFEST IT. YOU DESERVE TO GO TO LAW SCHOOL & YOU ARE CAPABLE.
Don’t let past mistakes hold you back.
Apply to 15 - 30 schools. Generally, schools (outside T14) do not consider acceptances from competitors outside the metro when reconsidering scholarship packages. Leverage regional scholarship packages upward based on USN ranking.
Shoot your shot, they can’t say yes if you don’t apply. Also, don’t apply to schools you won’t go to even if they send you fee waivers and invitations to apply. It’s a waste of time and energy for everyone, trust me I just did it
As a fellow international (Asian female) who attended undergrad in the U.S., was an R&R applicant who was initially accepted nowhere, and have c&f issues: Shoot your shot! Retake the LSAT if you need to, don’t give up!
Wrote diversity statement for all schools. Did research and reached out to current students for required Why X essays. Showed strong improvement from first LSAT to last. Recent work experience was not very strong.

Don’t tell me the odds! - Han Solo Seriously, apply where you want to get your education. The odds are low but they’re not zero.
Plan: In early May, send columbia LOCI http://apply.law.columbia.edu/status May 15 cornell deposit deadline so send LOCI before
Make your grade point average as high as you can. Take the LSAT at least two times. The LSAT takes work, but you can get better. Get people to proofread your personal statements.
Although both UMN and GWU were tempting, the Iowa offer was too good to pass up. I didn’t want to sit around on waitlists and I reconciled a slightly lower ranking for $$$$
I don’t feel like you can ever start your personal statement too soon or ever be too delusional during the app process <3 forget the moon, aim for the sun :’)
