Simple English definitions for legal terms

constitutionalize

Read a random definition: undue multiplicity of claims

A quick definition of constitutionalize:

Term: Constitutionalize

Definition: Constitutionalize means to give something a constitution or to make it follow the rules of a constitution. It can also mean to turn a legal question into a constitutional question, which means it has to follow the rules of the constitution. For example, if a court wants to make sure a new law follows the rules of the constitution, they might "constitutionalize" it.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: To provide with a constitution, make constitutional, or subject to constitutional scrutiny.

1. The newly formed country decided to constitutionalize their government by drafting a constitution that outlines the rights and responsibilities of its citizens.

2. The court plans to constitutionalize the segregated school district by ensuring that it complies with the constitution's equal protection clause.

3. The majority's decision to constitutionalize the issue was criticized by the dissenting judge, who believed that it was unnecessary to subject the issue to constitutional scrutiny.

These examples illustrate how constitutionalize can refer to the act of creating a constitution, ensuring that something complies with a constitution, or subjecting an issue to constitutional scrutiny. In each case, the goal is to ensure that the principles and values outlined in the constitution are upheld.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)
