A counterfeit mark is a spurious mark that is identical to, or substantially indistinguishable from, a registered trademark. This means that someone has created a fake version of a trademarked product or logo in order to deceive consumers into thinking it is the real thing. Counterfeit marks are illegal and can lead to legal action against the person or company responsible.
For example, if someone creates a fake Nike logo and puts it on a pair of shoes, they are creating a counterfeit mark. This is illegal because Nike has trademarked their logo and the fake logo is designed to deceive consumers into thinking they are buying a genuine Nike product.
