• Example 1: A large textile factory treats the water used in its dyeing processes to remove harmful chemicals. After treatment, this cleaned water is released through a pipe directly into a nearby river.

  Explanation: The treated water flowing out of the factory's pipe and into the river is considered effluent. Even though it has been treated, it is still liquid waste originating from an industrial process that is being discharged into a natural water body.
