Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)

Read a random definition: base fee

A quick definition of Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is a law that makes sure that companies that collect information about people's credit are fair and honest. This law says that these companies can only share a person's credit information if they have that person's permission. The law also says that people have the right to see their own credit report for free once a year. The companies that collect credit information must keep it up to date and delete old information after a certain amount of time. The FCRA helps protect people's credit information and makes sure that everyone is treated fairly.

A more thorough explanation:

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is a law that was passed in 1970 to regulate consumer reporting agencies and credit reports. It applies to information that is collected, used, or expected to be used to evaluate eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, government licenses or benefits, child support, criminal history, and other business transactions involving a consumer in their role as a consumer.

For example, if you apply for a loan or a job, the lender or employer may request a consumer report from a credit reporting agency to evaluate your creditworthiness or suitability for the job. The FCRA requires that these entities obtain your consent before obtaining your consumer report.

The FCRA also requires credit reporting agencies to provide you with a free credit report once every year and to alert you if your information was used to deny eligibility for credit. The agencies must keep your report up to date and delete information after set periods of time.

Overall, the FCRA is designed to protect consumers from inaccurate or unfair credit reporting practices and to give them control over their personal information.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
Give it 4 more weeks at least. Everyone in this chat needs to wait longer.
