• Example 1: Direct Work Task Injury

  A chef working in a restaurant kitchen accidentally cuts their hand while chopping vegetables during their scheduled shift. This injury clearly occurred in the course of employment because the chef was actively performing a core job duty (food preparation) at their designated workplace during working hours.

• Example 2: Injury During a Work-Related Break

  An administrative assistant slips and falls on a wet floor in the company's employee lounge while retrieving a snack from the vending machine during their authorized afternoon break. Even though the assistant wasn't directly at their desk, taking a break in an employer-provided facility is generally considered an activity reasonably connected to their employment.
