Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate

Read a random definition: starr

A quick definition of Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate:

Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate: A part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that looks at information from different sources to find out if there might be a terrorist attack. They also check to see if there are any weak spots in the country's infrastructure that could be attacked and suggest ways to make them stronger. We can call it IAIP for short.

A more thorough explanation:

The Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate (IAIP) is a division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Its main responsibility is to analyze intelligence information from various sources, such as the Central Intelligence Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the National Security Administration. The IAIP issues warnings about potential terrorist attacks and evaluates weaknesses in the nation's infrastructure to recommend ways to reduce vulnerability to attacks.

For example, the IAIP may analyze intelligence information about a potential terrorist attack on a major airport. They would then issue a warning to the airport and recommend ways to increase security measures to reduce the risk of an attack.

Another example is if the IAIP identifies a weakness in the nation's power grid that could be exploited by terrorists. They would then recommend ways to strengthen the power grid to reduce the risk of an attack that could cause widespread power outages.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)
