Simple English definitions for legal terms

judgment file

Read a random definition: PTO Code of Professional Responsibility

A quick definition of judgment file:

A judgment file is a book that a court clerk keeps to record judgments and give official notice of existing judgment liens to interested parties. It is also a schedule of pending cases and a list of parties and lawyers participating in an action. Additionally, it can refer to a court session where attorneys report the status of their cases. Docketing means making a brief entry in the docket of the proceedings and filings in a court case, scheduling a case for trial or some other event, or abstracting and entering in a book. A docket number is a number that the court clerk assigns to a case on the court's docket.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: A record kept by a court clerk that contains information about judgments made in court cases. It gives official notice of existing judgment liens to interested parties. It can also refer to a schedule of pending cases or a list of cases set for trial.

For example, if someone wins a court case and is owed money by the other party, the judgment file will show that there is a lien on the other party's property or assets. This means that the winning party can collect the money owed to them by selling the other party's property or assets. The court calendar and preferred docket help the court keep track of pending cases and prioritize which cases should be heard first.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
Give it 4 more weeks at least. Everyone in this chat needs to wait longer.
